Our mission has always been to provide information and help people connect. That is one of the reasons that we are so excited about this new website. With this new set of tools, we will be able to reach further and connect deeper. Although we don't believe that technology is the answer to every problem -- and no website will ever substitute for a warm smile or a good hug -- we have seen how effective it can be.

One of my goals in writing this blog is to get healthy people ready for they day that they or their loved one gets sick. Statistically this will be almost all of us. How can we be as ready as possible? Will we make the right steps in the beginning when it may matter most? Many of us have an emergency plan for a home fire, but how many of us have a plan for a serious health crisis?

So today’s blog will focus on an amazing tool that can save your life. It is my  hope that you will remember it when the proverbial, uh, stuff hits the fan. That resource is the online community. Patients, everywhere, who have experienced every illness and every treatment, met every doctor and can tell us all about it when we are making our choices.

CancerDancer travelled to the nation’s capital last week to shake Congress by the shoulders and….no, actually we were there to attend the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA) Conference. We rolled out our belly dancer, our six-foot-tall Dancing Girl cutout, and vibrant volunteer presence, and had a great time at a serious conference. Let me tell you about it.
