Should DNA be Patented?

Can a company patent DNA? That is the question before a U.S. Federal Circuit Court. The case involves the BRCA 1 and 2 mutations — genetic anomalies that produce ovarian and breast cancers in women worldwide. In the case (likely to headed to the Supreme Court) Myriad Pharmaceutical is trying to patent the BRCA mutations, which they discovered.
